7 Things You Need To Know About Good Driving Setup

It is no secret that the drive is one of the most important shots that you will ever get to play when you are golfing. It is important for you to learn how to play the perfect drive, so that as you get on the green, you are in a good position to score some really important points, without playing too many shots. A good drive will make your work a lot easier once you are on the course.

There are a number of things that you might not yet know about the best driving setup, and we will share some of these with you so that you are able to have a good time when you are playing, and make the best use of your time on the course too:

  • Focus on the club
  • Get your feet together
  • Feet movement
  • Knee flex
  • Position of your butt
  • Work on your forearm
  • The complete setup

Focus on the club

There is so much on this shot that involves your club. When you are trying to lock down your target, it is important for you to make sure that you have your club down first. This is mandatory if you are to get the best setup for your drive.

Get your feet together

As you are addressing the ball for this shot, make sure that you have your feet together. The importance of this is all about the alignment of your body with respect to the ball.

Feet movement

Your left foot should move first as you are trying to make sure that you have it properly aligned with your armpit. The reverse is true in the event that you are a left handed player. The concept here is to make sure that the shot you play is flattened enough to produce a longer swing.

Knee flex

Since your legs are properly spread out and you have your club behind the ball, you will be able to get just the right amount of flex on your knees to make a good shot.

Position of your butt

Before you strike the ball, your position is supposed to be in such a manner that you get to push your butt backwards, spreading your weight appropriately across your feet.

Work on your forearm

Your left forearm is supposed to be in front of your right forearm. The idea here is to make sure that you have a square shoulder.

The complete setup

Since you are now already in position, you can then proceed to hit the ball.
